BukSU Participates in 2026 Global Sustainable Development Congress in Jakarta

Bukidnon State University (BukSU) participated in the 2026 Global Sustainable Development Congress (GSDC) in Jakarta, Indonesia, from June 22 to 25, where it joined higher education institutions and organizations in discussions on sustainable development and international collaboration.

Representing the university were BukSU President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol and Mr. Joseph Gelacio, program chair for Global Excellence. They joined university leaders, policymakers, researchers, development organizations and sustainability advocates in discussions related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The congress, organized by Times Higher Education (THE), convened universities and institutions involved in addressing global issues through education, research, innovation and community engagement. The event included plenary sessions, policy discussions, networking activities and collaborative exchanges focused on sustainable development.

During the congress, Mirasol received BukSU’s recognition in the Times Higher Education Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026 on behalf of the university. The university’s inclusion in the rankings was its second consecutive appearance in the global listings.

BukSU was placed in the 1001–1500 bracket worldwide in the 2026 THE Sustainability Impact Ratings, placing the university among higher education institutions recognized for their contributions to sustainable development. The ranking considered the university’s integration of sustainability principles into instruction, research, extension, innovation, governance and community development programs.

University officials said the recognition also acknowledged the participation of faculty members, staff, students, alumni and partner organizations in implementing initiatives related to environmental stewardship, social inclusion, community development and institutional resilience.

The BukSU delegation also took part in networking and partnership-building activities with universities, international organizations and development agencies. The engagements explored potential collaboration in research, academic mobility, sustainability programs, capacity-building initiatives and other internationalization efforts.
