BukSU Ranked in Global Sustainability Assessment for Second Straight Year

Bukidnon State University (BukSU) was placed in the 1001–1500 bracket in the 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) Sustainability Impact Ratings, its second consecutive year in the global sustainability rankings.

The THE Sustainability Impact Ratings, previously known as the THE Impact Rankings, measures how higher education institutions contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The 2026 edition evaluated 1,646 universities from 116 countries and territories across 17 SDG categories and an overall ranking.

BukSU received rankings in 16 of the 17 SDG categories included in the assessment.

For SDG 1 (No Poverty), the university was ranked in the 601–800 bracket. It was placed in the 601+ category for SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), 1001+ for SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), and 601–800 for SDG 4 (Quality Education).

In SDG 5 (Gender Equality), BukSU was ranked in the 301–400 bracket. The university also received a 601+ ranking for SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), 691–800 for SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), and 801–1000 for SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth).

BukSU placed in the 801+ category for SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) and 601–800 for SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities).

The university was also ranked 601+ in SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), 601–800 in SDG 13 (Climate Action), 401+ in SDG 14 (Life Below Water), and 401–600 in SDG 15 (Life on Land).

For SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), BukSU was placed in the 801+ category, while it received a 1501+ ranking in SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

The rankings are the only global performance tables that assess universities against the United Nations’ SDGs. The assessment uses indicators across four areas: research, stewardship, outreach and teaching.

Research examines how universities contribute to the SDGs through scholarly work and knowledge generation. Stewardship evaluates how institutions manage resources and support employees, faculty and students. Outreach considers engagement with local, regional, national and international communities, while teaching assesses how universities prepare graduates and incorporate sustainability concepts into learning.
