Bukidnon State University proudly earned recognition at the ICONS Awards 2025, led by CHED Chairperson Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis, for its outstanding performance in international university rankings, an achievement that places BukSU among the country’s rising leaders in global higher education. The awards were personally received by University President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol, together with Ms. Juliecriz B. Mallari, Executive Assistant III, representing the institution with pride and gratitude.
During her address, Chairperson Agrupis celebrated the momentum of Philippine higher education on the world stage, noting an 82% increase in HEIs recognized by major international ranking systems, now totaling 173 institutions. This national milestone mirrors BukSU’s own strides in strengthening its visibility, relevance, and impact through research, innovation, and sustainability efforts.
BukSU was honored for its notable placements in two major global ranking systems:
• Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2025: 801–1000, recognizing the University’s contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); and
• World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) 2025: 161, underscoring BukSU’s dynamic initiatives in innovation, responsiveness, and societal engagement.
These accomplishments reflect the University’s growing capacity to create meaningful change on campus, in communities, and across the region, while strengthening its standing in Region 10 as one of the leading institutions driving global competitiveness and sustainability.
The ICONS Awards, organized by the CHED International Affairs Service, celebrated outstanding institutional leaders, programs, and partnerships across eight categories. BukSU’s recognition affirms its strong contribution to the country’s upward trajectory in global rankings and SDG impact.
As Chairperson Agrupis reminded all honorees, “Internationalization is not a competition; it is a measure of impact.” Bukidnon State University embraces this call as it continues to catalyze inclusive growth, global engagement, and a future-ready generation of learners and leaders.
