DSWD’s KALAHI-CIDSS Cash for Work Program culminates with payout to BukSU volunteers

The Bukidnon State University (BukSU), in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 10, has concluded the implementation of the KALAHI-CIDSS Cash for Work Program on August 19, 2025.

The culminating activity, held at BukSU Mini Theater, highlighted the payout proper.

“The KALAHI-CIDSS Cash for Work Program aims to provide temporary financial assistance to address the short-term needs of vulnerable families, while also offering knowledge and skills-based interventions by engaging beneficiaries in actual work activities. In addition, it extends social protection to low-income families as part of DSWD’s poverty reduction strategy and promotes active community involvement,” said Project Development Officer III Ms. Maria Jenell S. Canonigo.

BukSU was honored to be chosen as one of the partner higher education institutions (HEIs) in the region for the KALAHI-CIDSS Cash for Work Program.

A total of 198 alumni and 100 students reaped the benefits of this initiative, taking on assignments at the BukSU main campus, its satellite campuses, and in various LGU offices across the cities and municipalities of Bukidnon.

“Their active involvement not only provided them with temporary income and valuable work experience but also reflected the university’s steadfast commitment to advancing inclusive, community-driven, and responsive initiatives that address both local needs and broader development goals,” Ms. Katrina Faith M. Melig, Alumni Relations Unit Department Head shared.

The culminating activity was graced by representatives from the National Program Management Office, including Maria Jenell S. Canonigo (Project Development Officer III) and Rawilyn D. Manuel (Social Welfare Officer II); as well as officials from the Regional Program Management Office, namely Brillalyn M. Sibonga (Regional Program Coordinator), Maria Arline May V. Pacudan (Social Welfare Officer III), Cairon S. Maruhom (Project Development Officer II), Salima L. Diampuan (Project Development Officer II), Marjorie T. Jones (Financial Analyst II), Grace D. Rodriguez (Financial Analyst III), Michelle Jupiter (Financial Analyst II), Genalyn Monares (Administrative Officer II), and Deocelyn G. Sabucdalao (Information Officer II).

The Office of Senator Imee Marcos was also represented by Ms. Arlene Sambile. From BukSU, Ms. Katrina Faith M. Melig, Department Head of the Alumni Relations Unit, who served as the point person for the alumni beneficiaries and represented Dr. Mariza P. Manlagaylay, Director of Institutional Student Programs and Services and BukSU Program Head for KALAHI-CIDSS Cash for Work.

The event featured beneficiaries’ testimonies, the awarding of certificates of participation and appreciation, and the formal payout of program incentives. In her message, BukSU President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol congratulated the student and alumni beneficiaries for their active involvement, while extending her heartfelt gratitude to DSWD for selecting BukSU as this year’s HEI partner for Bukidnon Province.
