BukSU Implements Heightened Security Measures Across Campuses

Vehicles, motorcycles and delivery units entering university premises must stop at designated security checkpoints and undergo appropriate inspection. Also, students, employees, visitors and other stakeholders are requested to carry the required identification, prepare their belongings for inspection and cooperate with security personnel.

Bukidnon State University has implemented heightened safety and security measures across all its campuses following recent security incidents in educational institutions.

The Memorandum No. 248, s. 2026 reiterates the campus safety and security measures, which takes effect immediately and apply to students, employees, visitors, service providers and other stakeholders for the Main, EduHub, and 16 satellite campuses in Bukidnon and Misamis Oriental.

Identification and entry procedures

The university will enforce its “No ID, No Entry” policy at campus entrances. Students and employees are required to present valid university identification cards, while visitors must present valid identification, register at designated entry points, and state the purpose and destination of their visit.

All persons entering university premises are also required to submit bags, backpacks, parcels and other personal belongings for inspection by authorized security personnel. The memorandum states that inspections must be conducted in a respectful, consistent and non-discriminatory manner.

Random inspections may also be conducted as part of the university’s continuing safety and security measures.

Vehicle and visitor controls

Vehicles, motorcycles and delivery units entering university premises must stop at designated security checkpoints and undergo appropriate inspection. Security personnel may inspect trunks, storage compartments, cargo areas and delivery containers when necessary.

Emergency response vehicles, including ambulances, fire trucks, rescue vehicles and police vehicles responding to emergencies, will receive immediate access and will not be delayed by routine inspection procedures.

Visitors must register at designated entry points and proceed only to the office or unit they intend to visit. Access to classrooms, laboratories, dormitories, offices and other restricted areas will require authorization and compliance with campus protocols.

Prohibited items and security monitoring

The memorandum prohibits the possession, transport or introduction of firearms, explosives, illegal drugs, unauthorized weapons and other dangerous items into university premises.

If prohibited items are found during inspections, they will be handled, secured, reported and/or turned over to the appropriate authorities.

University Security Services will intensify monitoring, patrols and surveillance in strategic locations, including entry points, buildings, parking areas, activity venues and other vulnerable areas.

The university also directed members of its community to report suspicious persons, unattended items, threats, weapons or unusual activities to Security Services or the nearest university official.

Additional protocols at EduHub campuses

The memorandum sets additional procedures for the EduHub campus, where the Elementary Laboratory School (ELS) and Secondary Laboratory School (SLS) are located. Visitors are prohibited from proceeding directly to learners’ classrooms without authorization.

For Laboratory Schools students, inspection of personal belongings will take place at the designated entrance of the ELS and SLS Buildings.

Students are also requested to open their bags before reaching the designated inspection area. Random inspections of bags and lockers will be conducted regularly. Visitors must register in the visitor logbook at the entrance gate and proceed to the designated Records Office for assistance and coordination.

The memorandum also prohibits vapes, cigarettes, lighters, matches and other items deemed unsafe or inappropriate for learners within the Laboratory Schools. Such items will be handled under applicable school policies and regulations.

Entry delays expected during peak hours

The university said minor delays may occur at entry points, particularly during peak hours. Students, employees, visitors and other stakeholders are requested to carry the required identification, prepare their belongings for inspection and cooperate with security personnel.

The memorandum said cooperation and vigilance from stakeholders are necessary to maintain a safe and secure learning and working environment across Bukidnon State University campuses and facilities. (BukSU – Information Unit)
