Bukidnon State University (BukSU) is expanding its outreach efforts by enhancing faculty skills in extension project development.
Through the Extension Services and Community Engagement Unit (ESCEU), the university held a two-day training that focused on proposal writing and documentation, on February 26-27, 2025, at the BukSU Hotel.
The workshop was attended by 16 faculty extensionists from the Central, North, and South clusters of BukSU’s satellite campuses. They underwent training on the refinement of extension project proposals and the enhancement of project documentation, ensuring alignment with Extension Major Final Outputs (MFOs).
MFOs refer to the tangible results of an organization’s programs, activities, and projects which are primarily directed towards external clients or beneficiaries. MFOs emphasize the organization’s impact on the people.
In the case of ESCEU, the unit initiates and find relevant extension and community service projects in line with the mission and goals of the university.
Dr. Albert A. Villanca, director of the Office of the Director for Satellite Campuses, delivered a message on behalf of university President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol, emphasizing the value of doing outreach services to the communities and partner stakeholders.
“Extension work is more than just a university mandate—it’s a commitment and a call to action that bridges the gap between knowledge and transformation,” Villanca read.
The program included plenary discussions, workshops on documentation, peer review sessions, and a writeshop with consultations. Faculty members participated in hands-on activities designed to strengthen their ability to develop and document community-focused projects.
According to ESCEU Director Dr. Jiemalyn B. Paulican, the initiative is part of BukSU’s broader effort to equip faculty extensionists with the necessary tools to design projects that align with the university’s strategic goals and respond to community needs.
“Through this initiative, BukSU continues to strengthen its extension services, empowering faculty extensionists to develop community-responsive projects that align with the university’s mission and priorities,” said Paulican.
