The Bukidnon State University (BukSU) Information Technology (IT) Department hosted a virtual consultative meeting via Google Meet on January 15, 2025, to prepare fourth-year students and their parents for the upcoming On-the-Job Training (OJT) experience deployment. The meeting aimed to provide crucial information and address concerns related to the internship program and to ensure both students and their parents fully understand the OJT process and requirements. Nicole R. Pasal hosted the meeting, which lasted from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
The program began with preliminaries, followed by a motivating opening message from Dr. Marilou O. Espina, Dean of the College of Technologies (COT), emphasizing the importance of OJT in the students’ professional development. After that, Dr. Rozanne M. Flores, Program Chair and Student Mobility Coordinator, then provided a detailed overview of the internship contract agreement. Dr. Flores highlighted key aspects such as student safety, security, requirements and expectations of both students and parents during the OJT period, whether within or outside of Bukidnon.
An open forum followed, allowing parents and students to raise questions and clarify concerns regarding the internship program. This interactive session proved invaluable, addressing various questions and concerns raised by the parents, including those related to transportation, accommodation, safety, and potential challenges their children might encounter during their OJT placements.
The consultative meeting successfully concluded with the inspiring words of Mr. Louie Jay Labastida, the OJT instructor, equipping both students and parents with the relevant information to navigate the OJT experience effectively. He emphasized the importance of professionalism that would serve as a foundation of career development during the internship, encouraging students to make the most of this valuable learning opportunity.
Through the virtual consultative meeting, the IT department provided a thorough overview of the OJT program, ensuring that students and parents are fully prepared for this crucial phase in the students’ academic journey. The meeting also emphasized student safety and a positive learning experience during their internship placements. (Louie Jay S. Labastida, COT-IT Faculty)
