Bachelor of Arts in Economics

Overview

The Bachelor of Arts in Economics program intends to provide students with academic trainings and educational exposure to become self-reliant and productive citizens who have an understanding of the economic phenomenon of globalization and how it impacts economic development in the country. The program also seeks to instill students the value of savings and investment, providing macro perspectives on how the economy works while at the same time, developing students’ capability in generating innovative research-based solutions to address economic issues, challenges and problems vis-à-vis feasibility studies, research and development planning.

The program of BA – Economics is designed to prepare students for employment requiring research and analytical skills in the public and corporate sector. Moreover, it provides adequate and reliable intellectual venues for those who would like to pursue advanced graduate degrees in economics as well as further studies in law, management, finance, international relations and even in the field of teaching. It hones students to be innovative leaders in research, education, community engagements, and entrepreneurship. The graduates of BA Economics are expected to be future researchers, lawyers, office workers, and employers, bankers, consultants, educators, public servants, statisticians, and business owners here and abroad. These are in consistent with the program outcomes as reflected in CMO 21 s 2017.These outcomes are achieved through varied teaching and learning activities of the curriculum offerings.

Through quality instruction, research, and sustainable extension, the program produced globally competent and competitive graduates as evidenced by the high employability rate. The employment rate of AB Economics graduates has been consistently high for the past thirty-nine years. Thus, the program produced noteworthy alumni with remarkable contributions to the economy with their chosen fields.
