The Bukidnon State University (BukSU) College of Medicine (COM) convened its inaugural class of 34 Doctor of Medicine students and their parents for a Student-Parent Orientation on July 27, 2026, as the college prepares to open classes for School Year 2026–2027.
The orientation introduced the university’s newest medical students and their families to the Doctor of Medicine program, institutional fees, admission and enrollment procedures, scholarship opportunities, mentoring, and academic policies that will guide students throughout the program.
“COM’s vision is to provide medical education for sustainable development, and its mission is to develop medical professionals committed to community service through instruction, research, and extension,” said COM Dean Dr. Ruth Semilla-Beltran.
She also introduced the college’s core values under BukSU’s EPIC framework, which include excellence, professionalism, integrity, commitment, competence, compassion, and cultural sensitivity.
BukSU’s Doctor of Medicine program is a four-year post-baccalaureate degree with 6,472 hours of full-time study. The first three years combine classroom instruction with community and hospital exposure, while the fourth year consists of hospital clinical and community rotations. Students will also complete elective rotations at partner institutions and health facilities during the first three levels of the program.
