The Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) began its Online First Survey Accreditation Visit on July 27, 2026, for Bukidnon State University’s (BukSU) Bachelor of Science in Biology major in Biotechnology and Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science major in Environmental Heritage Studies
BukSU President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol said the two degree programs address issues that affect environmental management, biodiversity, food security and biological sciences.
“Today, more than ever, the world faces unprecedented environmental challenges, from the growing impacts of climate change and biodiversity loss to food security, sustainable resource management, and emerging biological concerns. These realities demand graduates who are not only scientifically competent but are also innovative, ethical, and committed to creating sustainable solutions,” said Dr. Mirasol.
“This is why these two academic programs are of profound significance. These programs embody BukSU’s commitment to producing professionals who respond to society’s most pressing environmental and developmental challenges,” she added.
The accreditation visit is part of AACCUP’s quality assurance system for state universities and colleges. Under the agency’s accreditation process, a First Survey Visit is conducted after an academic program passed the Preliminary Survey Visit.
Programs that satisfy the prescribed standards may receive Level I Accredited Status, which is valid for three years. The survey covers 10 evaluation areas: mission, goals and objectives; faculty; curriculum and instruction; students; research; extension and community involvement; library; physical facilities; laboratories; and administration.
AACCUP is the accreditation agency for academic programs offered by Philippine state universities and colleges. The organization conducts external evaluations to determine compliance with established quality assurance standards across academic and institutional operations. (BukSU – Information Unit)
