The Bukidnon State University (BukSU) Board of Regents (BOR) approved the institution’s third-quarter budget for Fiscal Year 2026 and passed a series of academic and infrastructure initiatives during its 207th Regular Meeting.
The second-quarter meeting focused on upgrading campus facilities, strengthening research capabilities, and adjusting academic policies for the coming school year.
Among the key administrative approvals were revisions to the university’s Annual Procurement Plan and the endorsement of several infrastructure projects aimed at campus development.
In academics, the Board approved the Institutional Plan to Sustain Flexible Learning for School Year 2026–2027, the ratification of a Revised Student Handbook, and applications for the faculty development program. The BOR also mandated the integration of special topics on the ease of doing business into the academic curriculum.
The session also saw a transition in board membership. Dr. Mark Lemuel L. Garcia, Regional Director of the Department of Science and Technology Region X (DOST-X), and newly elected Supreme Student Council President Jann Kenneth Vargas officially joined the Board. Vargas took his oath of office as the new Student Regent, replacing Mr. Carlo Jacky Ellevera, who was awarded a Plaque of Recognition for his service.
To boost research infrastructure, the BOR confirmed personnel appointments under Phase II of the Revised Organization and Staffing Standards (OSS) for State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), specifically for the Office of the Director for Research and Publication Services. The Board further approved updated operational manuals, research ethics guidelines, community extension projects, and various institutional partnerships.
“The initiatives approved during this meeting position BukSU to better respond to emerging opportunities and challenges in higher education,” BukSU President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol said. “These actions strengthen our capacity to deliver quality instruction, impactful research, meaningful extension services, and responsive governance.”
Dr. Mirasol credited the collective efforts of the BOR, the Academic Council, the Administrative Council, and the agenda proponents for driving the university’s strategic developments. (Danielle Blanca O. Mañacap and Joanne Vivien B. Necosia)
