The Student Welfare and Engagement Unit (SWEU) of Bukidnon State University conducted a series of Brown Bag Sessions through its College Guidance Counselors and Designates, where students were given opportunity to participate in discussions on mental health, well-being and personal development.
The sessions took place during students’ vacant schedules, and participants could learn, exchange experiences, discuss common concerns and interact with fellow students. SWEU organized the activity as part of its preventive and proactive counseling program. The sessions also encouraged open communication, peer support and self-awareness among students.
According to SWEU Director Dr. Lora E. Añar, the Brown Bag Sessions gave students opportunities to participate in discussions that support their personal and academic development through the university’s guidance services.
“Through interactive discussions on timely and relevant topics, students gained practical strategies for building resilience, managing stress, strengthening interpersonal relationships, and maintaining their overall well-being,” said Añar. “More than just lunchtime conversations, the Brown Bag Sessions became opportunities for students to feel heard, valued, and empowered as they navigate their academic and personal journeys.”
SWEU said the activity gave participants an opportunity to interact with fellow students and exchange ideas on matters that affect student life.
The sessions also served as a venue where students could share experiences and perspectives in a structured environment while taking part in discussions related to student welfare and engagement.
“The Student Welfare and Engagement Unit extends its heartfelt appreciation to the College Guidance Counselors and Designates for their dedication and commitment to promoting student wellness, as well as to all BukSU students who actively participated and contributed to the success of this meaningful initiative,” Añar added.
