Stakeholders from across government, industry, and civil society gathered at Bukidnon State University to align and revise the institution’s 2025-2030 SMART Research, Development, and Extension (RDE) Framework.

The BukSU Stakeholders’ Convergence Forum was facilitated by the Office of the Vice President for Research, Extension and Innovations on December 12, 2025, at the Audio-Visual Center, BukSU main campus.

Representatives from the health, education, culture and arts, environmental management, law and governance, business, and science and technology sectors met to align and revise their existing programs and projects with the university’s research agenda and completed scientific studies vis-à-vis.

“Today’s gathering is a presentation of outputs. It is an invitation to build meaningful collaborations, explore innovations that can uplift lives, and open doors to the practical use and wider adoption of BukSU’s research initiatives. Our collective presence here affirms our shared belief that knowledge must move beyond the walls of the university and find purpose in real-world application,” Vice President for Culture, Arts, Sports, and Socio-Cultural Services Dr. Lincoln V. Tan, who read the University President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol’s welcoming speech.

Vice President for Research, Extension and Innovations Dr. Carina Joane V. Barroso remarked that the institution’s effort is completely dedicated to producing meaningful outcomes and which emphasizing that the partners provide the essential life and rhythm for the University’s RDE efforts.

“You, our partners, are the very heartbeat of why research and extension exist in BukSU. BukSU believes that every study we develop, every training we offer, and every innovation we pursue, our goal has always been to create something useful, something magamit (that can be utilized) ug makatabang (and beneficial) to our stakeholders and communities,” Barroso remarked.

Stakeholder representatives have presented their office/industry status quo and expressed the necessity for BukSU’s intervention through R&D, especially on the implementation of a research-based program or project, research-based policies, including project monitoring tools, as seen to be foundational in their workplace operations.

The continuity of research and its subsequent implementation by LGUs and private sector entities is based on financial backing. “BukSU is committed to this process, ensuring that internal fund is dedicated to research and for research,” VP Barroso stated.

However, access to external funding is a constant challenge for every academic institution to sustain.

An initiative to address this is strategically channeled through the Project ADOREE initiative, where BukSU transitions research studies into actionable programs and simultaneously strengthens external collaborations with funding institutions and partner academic institutions for a larger, meaningful impact.
