The rankings evaluate education institutions based on their progress toward achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Among 113 Philippine institutions assessed, BukSU ranked in the top 4 and tied for the highest position in Northern Mindanao with Mindanao State University–Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT).

In national results by individual SDG, BukSU earned the following ranks:

  • Top 1 in SDG 4: Quality Education
  • Top 3 in SDG 5: Gender Equality
  • Top 3 in SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation
  • Top 2 in SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production
  • Top 4 in SDG 2: Zero Hunger

The overall Impact Rankings “identify and celebrate universities that demonstrate comprehensive excellence in contributing to global sustainable development,” according to Times Higher Education. “By excelling in a variety of SDGs, these universities showcase their commitment to addressing the world’s most pressing challenges, including environmental sustainability, social inclusion, economic growth and partnerships.”

“This recognition is a testament to the collective efforts of the BukSU community in advancing inclusive, sustainable, and future-ready education,” said University President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol.  “Through our shared vision of a Smart BukSU, we continue to make meaningful contributions to local and global development.”

THE Impact Rankings serve as an international benchmark for universities working to align academic strategies, research, and community engagement with global development priorities. (BukSU-Information Unit)
