Bukidnon State University (BukSU) continues the accelerated rollout of its Doctor of Medicine program with the inauguration of the Dr. M. Po Clinical Simulation Laboratory and the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement with Malaybalay Polymedic General Hospital (MPGH) on June 18, 2026.
The event took place at the second floor of BukSU’s College of Medicine, where BukSU President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol and MPGH Director Dr. Melquisedes L. Po signed the agreement.
The Clinical Skills Laboratory established under the partnership is named after Dr. Po and is intended to provide simulation-based training for medical students.
“Humble and happy to help the College of Medicine,” Dr. Po said during the ceremony.
The agreement outlines MPGH’s commitment to donate or lend medical equipment and supplies to the laboratory. It also includes provisions for technical assistance and basic training on the use of the donated equipment to ensure operational readiness.
Dr. Ruth S. Beltran, Dean of the College of Medicine, said that BukSU’s efforts to establish the College of Medicine have been progressing rapidly. She said that based on her experience, other state universities and colleges took two to four years to prepare before offering a college of medicine, while BukSU has already made substantial progress in less time.
Based on the MOA, BukSU is tasked with maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the laboratory, using the equipment solely for academic purposes, coordinating with MPGH for maintenance and repairs, and giving proper acknowledgment of the hospital’s contributions.(Genavev Labora, IU Intern)
