Bukidnon State University officially launched a transformative and innovative initiative for its student assistants this summer—the BukSU-STEP UP 2025, or Sustainable Training for Empowered Pre-Service and University Pathfinders. The Office of the Vice President for Culture, Arts, Sports, and Student Services spearheaded the program, led by Dr. Lincoln V. Tan, and the Institutional Students’ Programs and Services, headed by Dr. Mariza P. Manlagaylay.
This dynamic initiative is designed to merge mentored internships, skills training, and leadership development, gathering some of the university’s most dedicated and passionate student assistants. Participants will be immersed in actual office functions, engage in weekly mentoring, and co-create impact-driven projects aligned with four key thematic tracks: Green Futures, Digital Synergy, Heritage & History, and Community Pulse.
Conceptualized under the Global Excellence on World Rankings Program, led by Program Chair Mr. Joseph L. Gelacio, this sustainable training model exemplifies BukSU’s commitment to producing service-oriented, future-ready graduates.
In her inspiring message during the launch, University President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol emphasized that BukSU-STEP UP 2025 is not just about fulfilling office roles—it is a meaningful opportunity to grow, serve, and lead.
“At Bukidnon State University, we believe that learning happens not only in classrooms but also in the experiences we cultivate through service and mentorship,” Dr. Mirasol said. “Through STEP UP, you not only earn but will learn, not only serve but will lead.”
Running from May to July 2025, the program promises to be a defining summer for every student assistant involved—one that ignites purpose, enhances potential, and reinforces the values of service, integrity, and excellence. (Astred Jill A. Catolpos/ Head, Presidential Technical Operations)
