IALU equips satellite campuses for enhanced global engagement

The forum was designed to address the challenges faced by satellite campuses in their IZN engagements, particularly concerning foreign travel policies and procedures. It also aimed to equip these campuses with the knowledge and strategies necessary to align their internationalization efforts with the main campus's initiatives.

Bukidnon State University (BukSU), through the International Affairs and Linkages Unit (IALU), hosted an internationalization forum to strengthen its satellite campuses’ internationalization efforts on March 28, 2025, at the Learning Commons, providing a platform for satellite campus personnel to engage in discussions and workshops focused on internationalization (IZN) initiatives.

The forum was designed to address the challenges faced by satellite campuses in their IZN engagements, particularly concerning foreign travel policies and procedures. It also aimed to equip these campuses with the knowledge and strategies necessary to align their internationalization efforts with the main campus’s initiatives.

The program covered topics including the University’s IZN Framework, Foreign Travel Policies and Procedures, Internship Policies and Procedures, Document Preparation for Engagement (MOU/MOA, Implementation Arrangement, Activity Design), How to Conduct Exploratory Meetings, and Developing Inter-Cultural Competence.

Dr. Rizza R. Consad, Director of the International Affairs and Linkages Unit (IALU), highlighted BukSU’s strategic focus on broadening international learning and community engagement, emphasizing the university’s rich cultural preservation as a unique draw for global partners.

Dr. Rozanne Tuesday G. Flores, Chair of the Student Mobility Program, elaborated on the various mobility programs and the necessary requirements for participation, including the University Student Internship Program.

“The expected output of the forum is for each participating campus to develop an activity design for a proposed campus-specific internationalization initiative. This will ensure that the knowledge and strategies gained during the forum are translated into actionable plans at each satellite campus,” Ms. Rachel-Anne S. Valera, Chair of the Faculty Mobility Program, said. (with report from Zyrha Jane B. Edlang)
