Bukidnon State University (BukSU), the Local Government Academy (LGA), and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on December 11, 2024, at The Manila Hotel, Ermita, Manila, during the Capacity Development Awards for Catalyst of Excellence – Expanding Connections for Excellent Local Governance (CapDev ACE-ExCEL) for research, extension services and community engagement.
BukSU President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol led the delegation, together with Vice President for Research, Extension, and Innovation (VPREI) Dr. Carina Joane V. Barroso, and Head of the Center for Local Governance Ms. Loraine Mae A. Anasco.
Executive Director Ms. Thelma Vecina represented the LGA, while Director Yvette Tolentino-Sunga represented DILG Regional Office 10.
The collaboration with BukSU was claimed as the first and only Higher Education Institution (HEI) in Bukidnon to secure a partnership, aimed to enhance local governance through research, extension, and innovation.
“By empowering local government units (LGUs) with evidence-based strategies and best practices, the partnership seeks to address governance challenges, improve service delivery, and promote sustainable development, reaffirming BukSU’s role as a vital academic partner in nation-building,” the Center for Local Governance shared.
