Bukidnon State University (BukSU) reaffirmed its commitment to the preservation of cultural heritage and biodiversity conservation by extending its support to the 28th Aldaw ta Kitanglad celebration.
As an active member of the Mindanao Protected Area Management Board (PAMB) Network, where the Mt. Kitanglad Natural Park is one of the protected areas, BukSU continues to contribute to the protection of the region’s rich natural and cultural resources.
On October 18, BukSU hosted the Laga daw Malaki Ta Kitanglad 2024 Press Conference, one of the major events in the annual Aldaw ta Kitanglad festivities.
Eight pairs of laga (miss) and malaki (mister) representing the Higaunon, Talaandig, and Bukidnon tribes from seven municipalities and one city showcased their advocacies and shared insights into their way of life before an audience of guests and media reporters.
“The activity is among the highlights of the 28th Aldaw ta Kitanglad festivity which has become a yearly tradition to give chance to our brother indigenous peoples to continuously practice their culture as a gesture of their unselfish contribution to the protection and conservation of the Mt. Kitanglad Range Natural Park (MKRNP),” Micheal Jan P. Pizzaro, MKRNP Deputy Protected Area Management Superintendent shared.
Aside from hosting the venue for the press conference, BukSU also provided judges with expertise in cultural preservation and environmental protection for the pageant.
Winners will be announced in the evening of the final round on November 6, 2024, during the Pituk hu Laga ta Kitanglad in Baungon, Bukidnon. (BukSU-Information Unit)
