Faculty members of Bukidnon State University, who are grantees of the Faculty Development Program (FDP) and the Commission on Higher Education’s Scholarship for Instructors’ Knowledge Advancement Program (CHED SIKAP), presented updates on the progress of their studies during the annual ‘Kumustahan ng mga Iskolar’ on March 20, 2024.
At the event, 51 faculty members presented their progress reports, completed stages and requirements, plans of activities, challenges encountered, and coping mechanisms for the completion of their post-graduate studies.
“We need to reflect back on our shared commitment to fostering a culture of academic excellence among all of our students, from whom we demanded so much excellence, as well as from ourselves as faculty,” said Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) Dr. Hazel Jean M. Abejuela.
One of the attendees is Mr. Zenas B. Paloma, a faculty member of the College of Nursing and a recipient of the FDP scholarship. He is pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing at San Pedro College, Inc., in Davao City.
“The ‘Kumustahan ng mga Iskolar’ is an important activity as it provides support for faculty members in their academic endeavors, particularly in dissertation writing. This is important to ensure the efficient utilization of government-provided funds. As scholars within our community, we need to use these resources properly,” said Paloma. (BukSU-Information Unit)
According to Dr. Joy M. Mirasol, President of BukSU, pursuing postgraduate studies helps faculty members become more proficient educators in their chosen fields, ultimately benefiting the students.
“Bukidnon State University is privileged to have you as our SMART BukSU faculty and your choice to enroll in postgraduate studies. Moreover, you are privileged that BukSU can support you in ways that are beneficial to your education, specifically financially,” Mirasol said.
