MALAYBALAY CITY – Four alumni of Bukidnon State University (BukSU) passed the September 2023 Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Licensure Examination.
The newly certified CPAs from BukSU are Renzo Von Jumawid, Jay Maquiling, Lorraine Otaza, and Algyne Claire Yamut.
According to the Professional Regulatory Commission Board of Accountancy, 2,740 (or 31.47%) out of the 8,734 takers successfully passed the Certified Public Accountant Licensure Exam.
Jumawid, a graduate of BukSU in 2022, emphasized the importance of meticulous preparation, acknowledging that his journey was shaped by the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“As someone who graduated during the pandemic, I needed to invest more than a year in intensive review to ensure that I maintained the same level of excellence in my education as I received from BukSU before the pandemic,” said Jumawid.
Jumawid credited his rigorous training in review centers as key to his success, as it allowed him to anticipate the demands of the actual CPA Licensure Exam. His strategic approach involved focusing on topics that could be answered in less than 2.5 minutes, underscoring the importance of efficient time management during the examination.
“Do not try to master everything, and do not stress yourself. You only need 75%, not 100%,” he said.
Jumawid also urged the BukSU accounting students to take their academic journey one step at a time and prioritize completing their degrees before immersing themselves in preparation for the CPA licensure exam. (Information Unit)
