Forty-two student-athletes from Bukidnon State University represented Northern Mindanao in the 2023 National Games of the State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA), held in Camiling, Tarlac.
The Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) and Tarlac State University (TSU) will be hosting this year’s SCUAA competition from October 1 to 6, with the theme “Unity through Sports in State Universities and Colleges for National Development.”
SCUAA is an inter-regional sports competition where talented athletes gather from different state colleges and universities across the country.
The Region 10 team comprises student-athletes hailing from the region who have demonstrated outstanding performance in various sporting disciplines. These athletes have notably shone in sports competitions, such as the recently concluded Mindanao Association of State Tertiary Schools (MASTS).
BukSU Football Team Captain, Mr. Juarell E. Galope, cited discipline and time management as the key factors in his preparations for the competition.
“As a student-athlete, I need to become more disciplined in terms of my diet and time management so that I can balance my training and studies,” he said.
Galope is a fourth-year Bachelor of Science in Business Administration majoring in Financial Management student at BukSU. He said that playing football and competing in the National Games of SCUAA was one of his dreams, and he was grateful to the university for fulfilling it.
Galope expressed his support to his teammates and encouraged them to win the gold medal. He was eager to “aim for victory” with the help and guidance from their coaches.
“To all the BukSU athletes, let’s all embrace the challenge, chase our dreams, and inspire greatness. Let’s make the National SCUAA 2023 unforgettable,” he said. (Information Unit)
