MALAYBALAY CITY – Research Director Dr. Lesley C. Lubos emphasized the importance and value of research in increasing the quality of life during the College of Technologies (COT) 2nd Student Research Conference on May 9, 2023.
“Continue doing research and provide value with your innovations,” Dr. Lubos said in his message to the College of Technologies students who presented their capstone projects and thesis papers during the COT 2nd Student Research Conference.
He added that the role of researchers was important in progressing their respective fields because their contributions have empowered us with knowledge. As an example, Dr. Lubos cited what scientists have discovered and how the world benefited from these research output today.
The College of Technologies 2nd Student Research Conference focused on the theme: “Technology Innovations: Driving Progress and Enhancing Life.”
A total of 47 presenters showcased their capstone projects and thesis papers as part of their requirements for completing their bachelor’s degree.
The Bachelor of Science in Information Technology has 29 presenters; the Bachelor of Science in Entertainment and Multimedia Computing has one presenter; the Bachelor of Science in Electronics Technology has 10 presenters; the Bachelor of Science in Automotive Technology has five presenters; and the Bachelor of Science in Food Technology has four presenters.
The research presenters were given a maximum of 10 minutes to present their study and answer the questions from the panel of experts.
The best papers were also announced on the same day and the certificates of participation were given to the research proponents. They will be advancing to the University-wide research competition.
Mr. Yoneilson Almerida, one of the research paper presenters, said that the student research conference was a great opportunity for students to present their research to their peers and a great way to improve their presentation skills.
Research culture is vital as it promotes the pursuit of knowledge and discovery, leading to advancements in various fields. It encourages critical thinking, innovation, and collaboration, driving progress and development. The COT Department committed to continue and push a strong research culture to enhance the reputation of BukSU and attract talented individuals to contribute to its success. (Raul Lecaros/COT)
