CHED grants COPCs to 13 of 15 satellite campuses

MALAYBALAY CITY/OP-IPS (28 January 2022) – Thirteen of the 15 BukSU satellite campuses have already obtained a Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) from the Commission on Higher Education-10 for at least one of their two programs with two campuses fully compliant, according to a report from the Office of the Director for Satellite Campuses (ODSC).

CHED granted COPC to the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Major in Finance Management (BSBA) programs in the following campuses: Alubijid, Baungon, Cabanglasan, Damulog, Impasug-ong, Kadingilan, Kalilangan, Kitaotao, Libona, Malitbog, Quezon, San Fernando, and Talisayan.

The Impasug-ong and Kadingilan satellite campuses have obtained COPCs for both their BSBA and Bachelor of Public Administration programs.   Kadingilan Satellite Campus obtained COPCs for both programs on December 20, 2021. Impasug-ong obtained COPC for BSBA on December 2021 and for BPA on March 17, 2022.

Most campuses have yet to obtain COPCs for the BPA program.

The Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) is a recognition that the specific degree programs being offered by a state university or college, local university or college are fully compliant with the policies, standards, and guidelines of CHED.

This is in accordance with the pertinent provisions of Republic Act (RA) 7722 otherwise known as the “Higher Education Act of 1994.”

CHED officials have evaluated these satellite campuses for their physical set-up including its facilities, the comfort rooms of every classroom and office, the library, and even the ventilation considering its impact to students’ learning.

In an earlier statement, Dr. Albert Villanca, Director for Satellite Campuses, said that the programs were issued the COPC because they were the programs which have complied with the list of minimum requirements from CHED.

Some of the major requirements he mentioned include the administration, program head, faculty, library, school building, and school site. He added that the issuance of COPC from CHED is “huge advantage for a school campus.”

One advantage, he said to BukSU Updates radio program, is the assurance that the students will be able to receive the right quality of education that they deserve from our faculty and administration.

The COPC, according to him, is also important for the students to enjoy the necessary minimum facilities of the school. Dr. Villanca also pointed out that COPC has become a recognition tool for the campus and the students to continue availing the free higher education law.
