Satellite campuses obtain COPC for 4 programs

MALAYBALAY CITY/OP-IPS (28 January 2022) – Four programs from Bukidnon State University’s satellite campuses have received their Certificate of Program Compliance from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED)-10 as of December 2021.

Dr. Albert A. Villanca, director of the Satellite Campuses, said that on December 21, 2021 CHED has granted the COPC for four of the 30 programs of the Satellite campuses.

The four programs, which obtained COPC as of December 2021, were Bachelor of Public Administration and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Financial Management in BukSU Kadingilan Campus, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Program major in Financial Management in Baungon Campus, and Business Administration Program major in Financial Management in Impasug-ong Campus.

The Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) is a recognition that the specific degree programs being offered by a state university or college local university or college are fully compliant with the policies, standards, and guidelines of CHED.

This is in accordance with the pertinent provisions of Republic Act (RA) 7722 otherwise known as the “Higher Education Act of 1994.”

The other remaining programs are still waiting for official communication from CHED.

“(CHED) had already let us know that in a matter of days, they will be issuing the succeeding COPC for other programs of other campuses,” he said.

CHED officials have evaluated these satellite campuses for their physical set-up including its facilities, the comfort rooms of every classroom and office, the library, and even the ventilation considering its impact to students’ learning.

Dr. Villanca said that the 4 programs were issued the COPC because they were the programs who have complied with the list of minimum requirements from CHED.

Some of the major requirements he mentioned include the administration, program head, faculty, library, school building, and school site. He added that the issuance of COPC from CHED is “huge advantage for a school campus.”

One advantage, he said, is the assurance that the students will be able to receive the right quality of education that they deserve from our faculty and administration.

The COPC, according to him, is also important for the students to enjoy the necessary minimum facilities of the school.

Dr. Villanca also pointed out that COPC has become a recognition tool for the campus and the students to continue availing the free higher education law. (Diana Rose B. Lagoy/OP-Information and Publication Services)
