History
The history of Bukidnon State University Malitbog Campus traces its origins to the pressing need for accessible tertiary education in Malitbog, a municipality in Bukidnon with a high poverty incidence. Many Malitboganons, primarily reliant on agriculture, faced financial constraints in sending their children to colleges in urban areas due to tuition fees, housing, and other expenses. To address this issue, the Local Government Unit (LGU) collaborated with Bukidnon State College, opening the Bukidnon State College External Study Center in June 2011. This initiative, spearheaded by then-Municipal Mayor Aida B. Dela Rosa and BSC President Dr. Victor M. Barroso, was initially housed at Malitbog Agricultural High School through an agreement with the LGU and the Department of Education. The center offered degree programs such as Business Administration, Public Administration, Sociology, and Information Technology, enabling students to pursue higher education without leaving their hometown.
In 2018, with the leadership of Mayor Osmundo N. Dela Rosa and University President Dr. Oscar B. Cabañelez, the center transitioned into the Bukidnon State University Malitbog Satellite Campus, further strengthening its academic foundation. The passage of Republic Act 10931, which granted free tertiary education, significantly boosted enrollment starting in the academic year 2018-2019. The campus, supported by Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri, moved to a dedicated facility in Zone 6, Poblacion, Malitbog, featuring new academic and administrative buildings, classrooms, and ongoing infrastructure projects such as a dormitory and covered court. With continuous institutional improvements, program compliance approvals, and growing student success, the campus remains committed to providing quality education to Malitboganons, now under the leadership of Dr. Erlinda D. Rivera, along with the strong backing of University President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol and Mayor Gary D. Casiño.
