‘Satellite campuses officially integrated in BukSU System’

MALAYBALAY CITY (OP-IPS) – Bukidnon State University’s Board of Regents has approved the formal establishment of BukSU’s 15 satellite campuses, allowing it to admit students for the school year 2022-2023.

The top management decision considered the integration of the 15 satellite campuses to the BukSU System, according to the board in Resolution no. 2326, S. 2022. The board approved the resolution in its regular meeting on June 10, 2022 in Baguio City.

The Joint Administrative and Academic Councils endorsed the resolution for the board’s approval in its meeting at the BukSU Auditorium on May 27, 2022.

Dr. Albert A. Villanca, Director for Satellite Campuses, said the formal establishment is a result of the university’s compliance to institutional requirements in the setting up of its satellite campuses.

He told OP-IPS that the university has complied with the requirements for school sites, school buildings, facilities and equipment, hiring of qualified personnel, and other requirements set in the application for Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

“These factors affect the overall learning process as well as the mental and physical growth of the students in the institution,” according to the resolution.

According to the resolution, the formal establishment is subject to the compliance of the necessary policies, standards, and guidelines as prescribed under CMO. 17, S. 2017 and CMO. 6, S. 2009 on program compliance.

In the same meeting, the board also approved another resolution accepting the memoranda of agreement between the university’s satellite campuses and their respective local government partners. The MOAs highlighted the working relationships and cooperative arrangements between BukSU and the LGUs on the establishment of school buildings, offering of academic programs in the towns, equity in the form of logistical and financial assistance to ensure sustainability of the programs. BukSU has satellite campuses in Alubijid, Medina, and Talisayan, all in Misamis Oriental and in Baungon, Cabanglasan, Damulog, Impasug-ong, Kadingilan, Kalilangan, Kitaotao, Libona, Malitbog, Quezon, San Fernando, and Talakag; all in Bukidnon.
