Bukidnon State University (BukSU) recognized the performance, dedication, and leadership of its undergraduate students during the annual Pagkilala Awards 2026, held at the BukSU Mini Theatre on June 10, 2026.
This year’s Pagkilala Awards honored 45 student awardees across categories: Outstanding University Student Award, University Leadership Award, Commendable Leadership Award, Athlete of the Year, Artist of the Year, and various Publication Excellence awards.
Student organizations ranging from academic and civic groups to religious sectors, fraternities, and sororities were also recognized for their contributions to campus life.
In her institutional address, President Mirasol emphasized that the event represents much more than traditional accolades.
Dr. Lincoln V. Tan, Vice President for Culture, Arts, Sports, and Student Services (VPCASSS), delivered a message meant to inspire the awardees shifting the focus away from the shiny, physical award and shining a spotlight on the internal character required to achieve it.
“To our awardees: this recognition matters. But what matters even more is what it represents. Behind every award is a version of yourself that chose discipline over excuses, service over self-interest, courage over comfort, and purpose over mediocrity. As you stand on the threshold of graduation, remember this: Excellence is not an act; it is a habit. The medals you receive today may one day fade, but the character, integrity, and commitment that earned them must remain,” VP Tan said.
University President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol challenged the student honorees to look beyond personal accolades and embody the “DASIG Spirit”, a commitment to courage, service, and lifting others up.
“One day, many of you will find yourselves teaching, coaching, guiding, or training others,” the President said. “When that time comes, share what you have learned and help others succeed. This is the essence of the DASIG Spirit. It is not only about personal success. It is about having the courage to dream, the willingness to serve, and the commitment to help others rise with you.”
