MALAYBALAY CITY (IPS) AACCUP accreditors commended the achievements of the university in building new infrastructures, acquiring equipment and other facilities, among other feats during a meeting with top management and stakeholders on Sept. 4 as part of the activities of the accreditation visit.
ʺI am amazed by the infrastructure (achievements) of the university, ʺ said Dr. Edward Lapong, one of the accreditors during the meet up held at the 4th Floor, Research and Extension Building.
Accreditors said they were amazed by the construction of the Rubia and other dormitories, which can cater to a wide range of students. They also took notice of buildings that were not yet constructed two years ago.
They also cited the high-end laboratory facilities that provide educational edge. One of the accreditors suggested that with these computer laboratories, the school can be the first to offer electronic engineering in the province of Bukidnon.
University officials also cited the on-going construction of the Casisang Annex campus in response to a question about expansion. The annex campus, officials noted, have are more innovative, compared to those in the main campus.
Dr. Lapong was joined by Dr. Evelyn B. Campos, over-all coordinator, and two other accreditors Dr. Esther Plaga and Dr. Vivian V. Flores.
The accreditors and stakeholders took time to talk about the university and its engagements in upholding its vision and mission statement, among others.
Aside from the President Dr. Oscar B. Cabanelez and other top officials, representatives from the students, faculty, alumni and university partners were also given the floor to speak and respond to questions.
The accreditors also tackled issues concerning the students such as the budget allocation for student organizations. Among other student issues, they also tackled collection of organization fees, which accreditors acknowledged as allowed as long as it is not excessive.
The top management made it clear that they provided mechanisms to ensure student welfare are attended to, despite limitations. (Kareen R. Balandra)
