Libona campus students continue to harvest organic farm produce

The organic farming initiative of Bukidnon State University (BukSU) Libona campus continued as students have harvested vegetables cultivated within the campus farm.

“The campus organic farm produced a variety of crops, including pechay, kangkong, string beans, and okra. These vegetables were grown without synthetic fertilizers, artificial chemicals, or pesticides. Instead, the students relied on natural farming methods, emphasizing soil health, ecological balance, and long-term sustainability,” Neal Bryan Rendal, Libona Campus Head, said.  

“This initiative reflects the strong commitment of Bukidnon State University Libona Campus to promote environmental stewardship and experiential learning among its students. The Libona campus continues to serve as a model for integrating academic instruction with practical, hands-on agricultural experience that benefits both students and the community,” he added.

College freshmen took part in farming and joined during harvest.

“[Na-realize nako nga need gyud ta ug patience ug knowledge sa pagtanum kay puhon naa gyud tay maani ug usa pud akong na-realize is ang importansya sa pagtinabangay] I realized that we really need patience and knowledge when it comes to planting, because soon enough, we’ll definitely have a harvest. Another thing I realized is the importance of helping one another,” Terence Jude T. Ebare, Business Administration student, said.

“[Nindot siya nga programa kay nagpakita siya sa importansya sa pag tanum ug pag atiman sa kinaiyahan, ug tungod niini na enganyo ang mga estyudante sa pagtanum] It’s a great program because it shows the importance of planting and taking care of the environment, and because of this, the students were inspired to start planting,” Venus Aple L. Ravidas, Business Administration student shared.

The activity was conducted under the guidance of the National Service Training Program (NSTP) to encourage student participation in community-based and environment-focused initiatives. (with report from Neal Bryan L. Rendal/ Campus Head, BukSU Libona)
