Bukidnon State University (BukSU) planted Balitbitan and pine tree seedlings on its Quemado-Neary Campus on September 26, 2025, in celebration of the 125th Civil Service Month and World Environmental Health Day.
The combination of Balitbitan (Cynometra ramiflora), a tropical, broadleaf, often ornamental tree, and pine tree seedlings (Pinus) suggested that the university’s planting activity was strategic, combining native or ornamental planting for campus aesthetics/symbolism, with general reforestation efforts. The seedlings are species valued for their ecological benefits and resilience in local conditions.
University personnel were invited to plant seedlings, with each participant designated a specific tree and planting spot to monitor.
The activity was part of BukSU’s continuing Arbor Day initiative, which aimed to expand and sustain green spaces by planting and nurturing seedlings. (Lovely May Ejem, CAO-Admin Staff)
