Bukidnon State University (BukSU) was formally recognized at the 2025 World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) Global Conference, held September 24–26, 2025, in Busan, South Korea.
The university secured the 161st spot among the Top 400 universities worldwide, showing its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and social responsibility.
WURI is an international ranking system that measures universities’ real contributions to society and industry. It highlights innovation in education, research, and community engagement across 16 categories, providing a comprehensive view of how institutions create meaningful impact. The ranking seeks to spotlight universities that drive creative solutions to societal challenges and inspire progress across the academic landscape.
BukSU’s recognition in Busan followed the official release of the 2025 WURI rankings on June 10–11 in Dumaguete City, Philippines, hosted by Handong Global University. The awarding reaffirmed BukSU’s growing international reputation and its continued efforts to address real-world challenges through education and innovation.
Representing BukSU at the global conference were Mr. Joseph L. Gelacio, Program Chair for Global Excellence, and Ms. Rosanna S. Generato, Chief Administrative Officer for Administrative Services.
During the event, BukSU also entered into a forthcoming partnership with Tongmyong University, the host of this year’s conference. The collaboration will advance academic exchanges, research initiatives, and innovation projects between the two institutions.
University officials said this achievement shows the dedication of faculty, staff, and students. BukSU’s recognition at WURI 2025 is regarded not only as an international honor but also as encouragement to continue producing leaders and innovations that serve both local and global communities.
