BukSU Pays Tribute to Ma’am Weng on Her Four Decades of Service

Ms. Wilma L. Gregory’s 65th birthday on May 25, 2024, also marks her official retirement from Bukidnon State University, concluding 41 years of dedicated service to the institution.

In 1982, Ma’am Weng began her career at the then-Bukidnon State College as a guest lecturer in the Commerce Department. She steadily advanced through the ranks to become the Chief Administrative Officer for Finance.

Among the biggest challenges Ma’am Weng faced at BukSU was overseeing the transfer of the external studies centers to Bukidnon State College and the process of attaining university status for the institution.

“I would like to say thank you to the Lord for giving me Bukidnon State College for the employment, which I really consider as my bread and butter for my family,” said Maam Weng, whose service at BukSU spanned the tenures of several presidents, from Dr. Jaime M. Gellor to the current president, Dr. Joy M. Mirasol.

At her retirement honoring program on May 20, BukSU colleagues expressed their deep appreciation for her immense contributions to the university and shared how greatly she will be missed by the BukSU community.

DR.  MA. TERESA G. SALUMINTAO, Daughter/IPPTU Head

Celebrating her legacy is a testament to how remarkable and incredible she is. Her contributions to BukSU and beyond are profound. As the mother of the Finance Office, I want her to be remembered as a government employee who exemplified a motherly workplace.

DR. JOY M. MIRASOL, University President

Throughout your career, you consistently demonstrated the highest accountability, transparency, and resourcefulness standards. You were a trusted adviser and a key player in finding creative solutions to complex financial challenges.

MR. DANTE S. VICTORIA JR., VPAF

As we celebrate her retirement, we not only acknowledge her professional achievements but also the kindness and inspiration that she has shared with us all throughout the years.

DR. MARIBEL G. VALDEZ, Dean, CAS

Her prudence in handling government funds was ultimately recognized as a crucial factor in this institution’s progress.

MS. KATHERINE LOU P. BANDAS, CPA, SAO Finance

I really believe that God gives us people to make one’s person’s life be better. And that’s how I see Maam Weng to each one of us in the Finance.
