BukSU Researchers Undergo Research Proposal Clinic with DOST

Researchers from Bukidnon State University (BukSU) participated in a health-related project proposal clinic organized by the Office of the Vice President for Research, Extension, and Innovations (OVPREI) – Research Unit (RU), in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (DOST-PCHRD) and DOST Region X.

The activity was participated by OVPREI directors, Research Center heads including the Bukidnon Studies Center, University Gender Resource and Development Center, and faculty researchers. The training, conducted by DOST-PCHRD resource speakers Dr. Sarah Jane A. Jimenez, Jemeul Joshua Z. Austria, Ms. Ma. Anne L. Labote, and Mr. Jules Carl R. Celebrado, took place at Balai Ha BukSU Hotel.

“Securing external funding for research projects has become increasingly challenging, especially for us in BukSU. Funding agencies receive numerous proposals, each vying for limited resources, and with this, a well-refined research proposal can make all the difference,” stated University President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol in a message read by VPREI, Dr. Carina Joane V. Barroso.

The two-day proposal clinic covered various topics, including PCHRD’s Agenda Thrusts and Priorities Timeline, Concept Proposal Documenting Requirements and Submission, and the Evaluation and Approval of Proposals. The clinic concluded with project proposal presentations from the College of Nursing, College of Technologies, College of Arts and Sciences, Bukidnon Studies Center, University GAD Resource Center, and the BukSU Research Centers.

Furthermore, participants received orientation on completing financial forms and guidelines for appropriating funds for equipment, devices, or technologies. The session covered budget allotment considerations in line with Civil Service Commission (CSC) rules for payment of project personnel (personnel services), maintenance and other operating expenses (MOOE), and capital outlay.

The DOST-PCHRD is set to accept concept proposals on March 1-15, 2024, with the evaluation results expected in August 2024. (BukSU-Information Unit) (with the contribution of Ms. Genevibe C. Largo)
