Borrowing books from the Bukidnon State University Library is now more convenient for both students and personnel through the recently inaugurated Self-Check Kiosk.
During the launching program on November 22, University Librarian Chandrani Yves E. Estrada said the technology will not only make borrowing books easier and faster but will also provide a more efficient and streamlined experience for the library staff.
“The acquisition of the self-check kiosk is in line with [the library’s] goal, which is to provide improved physical set-up and facilities to serve the academic community and also to conform to our SMART campus specifications to ensure operational efficiency and improve client experience,” said Estrada.
The user-friendly facility requires only a few steps for both borrowing and returning books.
Fourth-year Information Technology student Ramon Paulo Caumban said that he easily followed the procedure of checking out and checking in the books.
“The kiosk is very easy to use. With a few presses on the touch-screen, I can already borrow and return books without needing assistance from library staff,” said Caumban.
University President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol commended the introduction of the self-check kiosk as a step towards providing seamless and efficient service to readers.
“Innovation and technology are essential for modernizing university library services, making them more accessible, efficient, and aligned with the evolving needs of students and faculty in this digital age,” said Mirasol.
The kiosk is currently located on the third floor of the university library, accessible for books from the general circulation and Filipiniana sections. Estrada said that additional kiosks will soon be installed in other sections of the library. (BukSU – Information Unit)
