Bukidnon State University (BukSU) inaugurated six Smart Learning Spaces or Smart Classrooms and the Lecture Theater as part of its efforts to develop modern learning environments that support face-to-face, online, and hybrid instruction.
The inauguration covered the Smart Learning Spaces for the College of Technologies, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Education, College of Nursing, College of Public Administration and Governance, and College of Medicine.
The University also inaugurated the Lecture Theater at its EduHub Campus, where it will host lectures, conferences, academic ceremonies, research presentations, and other university activities.
Technology supports multiple learning modes
Each classroom features high-resolution interactive displays that support presentations, digital annotation, split-screen viewing, video conferencing, and content sharing. Digital writing boards allow instructors to write while displaying content on the main screen and provide options to save and share classroom notes digitally. Intelligent tracking cameras, ceiling microphones, and networked audio systems support classroom discussions, lecture recording, and virtual participation.
The facilities also include high-definition visualizers that display books, laboratory materials, handwritten work, documents, and other instructional resources. High-speed wireless connectivity, wired and wireless presentation systems, document scanning equipment, biometric access controls, acoustic treatment, movable classroom furniture, and climate-controlled learning environments complete the learning spaces.
The classrooms can accommodate lectures, discussions, workshops, demonstrations, and other academic activities.
Names draw from Bukidnon’s landscape and culture
BukSU assigned each learning space a name associated with Bukidnon’s mountain landscapes.
The College of Technologies now houses the Kitanglad Learning Space, named after Mount Kitanglad. The College of Arts and Sciences occupies the Kalatungan Learning Space, while the College of Education uses the Dulang-Dulang Learning Space.
The College of Nursing houses the Pantaron Learning Space, the College of Public Administration and Governance occupies the Maagnaw Learning Space, and the College of Medicine now houses the Mount Lumuluyao Learning Space, named after Mount Lumuluyao within the Kitanglad Mountain Range.
The Lecture Theater takes its name from the Kaamulan Festival, Bukidnon’s annual cultural celebration. The festival derives its name from the Binukid word amul, which means “to gather.”
Commission on Higher Education Commissioner and BukSU Board of Regents Chairperson Dr. Desiderio R. Apag III attended the inauguration ceremonies and said the facilities represent careful planning, responsible leadership, and a shared commitment to institutional growth.
“[The facilities] provide an environment where faculty members can teach more effectively, researchers can pursue new ideas, students can collaborate more freely, and the university can continue responding to the changing demands of higher education,” Apag said.
BukSU President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol said the project is part of the University’s Smart BukSU Agenda, which seeks to integrate digital technology, innovation, and data-driven systems into teaching, learning, and governance.
“We are not simply opening new classrooms equipped with modern technology. We are opening environments designed to transform how teaching takes place, how students learn, and how knowledge is created and shared,” Mirasol said.
