Bukidnon State University (BukSU) carried out internationalization activities at Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto in Indonesia from April 13–17, 2026, as part of its academic partnership initiatives.
The delegation, led by BukSU’s College of Education faculty member Jesse James G. Gellor Jr., facilitated the endorsement of BukSU pre-service teachers for a four-week off-campus teaching internship in schools across Purwokerto. The program places student-teachers in an overseas classroom setting, allowing them to engage with Indonesian learners and observe public inclusive education systems.
According to BukSU, the activity forms part of efforts to expand international academic exposure for its students and develop competencies aligned with global teaching environments.
During the visit, officials from BukSU met with UMP administrators. Discussions covered academic collaboration, research engagement, and faculty exchange opportunities.
The delegation also presented beads necklaces produced by Indigenous Peoples in Bukidnon as part of the exchange.
Gellor conducted a two-day training on Special and Inclusive Education, attended by more than 150 participants, including UMP faculty, students, and local early childhood and elementary teachers. The sessions addressed instructional approaches and classroom practices in inclusive education. BukSU said the activity outlines a framework for continued collaboration between the two institutions. A return visit is scheduled for August 2026, when UMP pre-service teachers and faculty are expected to travel to BukSU for a reciprocal exchange program.
