ISO 21001 Training Targets Alignment of BukSU Processes

Bukidnon State University targets to achieve alignment of its institutional processes with ISO 21001:2025 through a training conducted on April 21–22, 2026 at the University Auditorium.

The two-day activity brought together university officials, faculty and staff to review the requirements and documentation of the Educational Organization Management System (EOMS), an international standard designed for organizations providing educational services. Sessions were facilitated by Engr. Delfin R. Jacob, a consultant with expertise in quality management systems and ISO standards.

The training covered the structure and requirements of ISO 21001:2025, including clauses on context of the organization, leadership, planning, support, operation, performance evaluation and improvement.

ISO 21001:2025 serves as a management framework for educational organizations to manage processes related to teaching, learning and research, with the aim of meeting the requirements of the stakeholders.

University President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol said the university’s existing ISO 9001:2015 certification has enabled the establishment of systems that are efficient, accountable and responsive. She mentioned the move toward ISO 21001:2025 aligns management practices with the institution’s role in education.

“As a university committed to develop competitive professionals who are committed to build a sustainable life for all, we recognize that our systems must not only function well—they must also serve the very heart of our mission: meaningful human development through quality education,” Mirasol said.

She added that ISO 21001:2025 directs attention to the purpose of institutional processes in relation to learners and outcomes.

“If ISO 9001:2015 strengthens how we operate, ISO 21001:2025 strengthens why we operate—placing the learner at the center, advancing inclusivity, and ensuring that our outcomes truly reflect the kind of graduates BukSU envisions,” she said.

The activity forms part of the university’s efforts to align its systems with international standards for educational organizations and to integrate management practices specific to education.
