
Members of the Young Pens Club of the BukSU Elementary Laboratory School underwent a workshop series on feature and news writing, photojournalism and desktop publishing on March 9-10 and 16, 2026, at EduHub Campus, Casisang, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.
Dr. Chiza T. Balane, Young Pens Clubs adviser, said that the seminar-workshop is part of the ongoing mission to help students become better writers and journalists.
“The series provided valuable learning opportunities for the young campus journalists as they prepare to produce and publish their school paper. It also forms part of the club’s continuing effort to nurture the writing and journalistic skills of the learners,” she said.
Mr. Rodrigo E. Bolivar II, Information Unit Head, shared strategies on writing feature articles. Mr. Walter I. Balane shared on news writing. Mr. Engelbert V. Cabunoc shared on photojournalism. Ms. Nova Thirdy Agravante discussed science and technology writing. Mr. John Dale S. Belderol shared about desktop publishing.
“Through initiatives like the Writeshop Series, ELS continues to cultivate excellence in writing, critical thinking, and responsible communication among its learners,” Balane added. (BukSU – Information Unit)
