Marc April Gil Butil, a rising figure in Philippine ultimate frisbee, continues to elevate the country’s presence on the international stage as he represents the Philippines in the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games hosted in Thailand. Known for his discipline, athleticism, and teamwork, Butil stands among the country’s dedicated athletes competing against Asia’s best in the fast-growing sport.

Beyond his athletic achievements, Butil is equally distinguished in the academic arena. He is a Bachelor of Public Administration graduate of Bukidnon State University (BukSU), Class of 2025, reflecting the university’s commitment to producing well-rounded individuals who excel both in public service and in global arenas such as sports.

Butil’s international exposure includes competing in major World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF)-sanctioned events in premier beach tournaments, experiences that helped shape his performance and confidence at the national level.

In 2023, he competed in the WFDF World Beach Ultimate Championships (WBUC 2023) in Huntington Beach, California, USA, where the Philippines joined the global field in one of the sport’s biggest beach ultimate stages. In 2024, his year featured both local and international highlights. He competed at Boracay Open 2024 in Boracay (Malay, Aklan) a flagship beach ultimate tournament in the Philippines (Gold – Champion) before continuing to Japan where he continued his international campaign in Japan at the WFDF Asia Oceanic Beach Ultimate Championships (AOBUC 2024) held in Shirahama/Tanabe, Wakayama, a tournament that regularly draws elite teams across the Asia-Oceania region (Gold – Champion).

His momentum carried into 2025, when he returned to Japan to compete at the WFDF Asia Oceanic Ultimate Championships (AOUC 2025) in Japan, a major regional championship drawing elite teams from across Asia and Oceania (Gold – Champion).

Closer to home, Butil also competed in Boracay Open 2025, held on March 14-16, 2025, further strengthening his competitive rhythm through one of the country’s most recognized beach ultimate events (Gold – Champion).

From Bukidnon to the international ultimate circuit, Marc Butil’s journey highlights the potential of Filipino athletes to compete globally while balancing academic excellence. As he dons the national colors in Thailand, Butil carries not only the Philippine flag, but also the pride of his province and Bukidnon State University; and the promise of a new generation of Filipino student-athletes ready to make their mark on the world stage.
