Barangay Canayan was the recipient of a full-scale institutional outreach on October 17, 2025, as the Bukidnon State University (BukSU) conducted its final activity for the 2025 Extension Week Celebration.
Led by the Extension Services and Community Engagement Unit (ESCEU) under the Office of the Vice President for Research, Extension and Innovations, the caravan took the entire BukSU and a wide array of services directly to the residents in Barangay Canayan.

“[Dako among kalipay nga naa mi dinhe karon sa Barangay Canayan isip partner ninyo. Kami sa BukSU, dili lamang kami eskwelahan, kami naa diri para muhatag sa serbisyo kung unsay naa sa among skwelahan among ihatag pinaagi sa serbisyo nga inyong makita dinhe] We are greatly happy that we are here in Barangay Canayan, as your partner. BukSU is not only an academic institution, we are here to extend services through the installed service stations you see,” Vice President for Research, Extension and Innovations Dr. Carina Joane V. Barroso shared.

BukSU rolled out several services based on the community needs assessment done: legal aid clinic, medical services, technical assistance (electronics and electrical repair as well as automotive repair services), donations and sharing of pre-loved items, book donations, and the distribution of grocery packs, and knowledge sharing (hydroponics lecture and storytelling).
Students across different programs contributed to the success of the caravan.
Students from the Community Development Department assisted in the distribution of seedlings. Senior students from the Electronics Technology Department took part in electronics and electrical repair. Law students sat with their law professors to assist in the conduct of a legal aid clinic for the Barangay Lupong Tagapamayapa (Barangay Peace Council/Barangay Reconciliation Panel/Committee).
The barangay officials facilitated the implementation, ensuring that community members benefited from the services.
We are thankful of their programs (and services) we can avail. Now that these are finally opened, we can benefit from it, grab the opportunity of what BukSU services can offer. We are happy to welcome you (our visitors), especially BukSU because we share the same dream that Barangay Canayan continues to progress,” Hon. Yorita Cajardo, Punong Barangay of Canayan expressed.

The local government unit partnered with the university to provide health services through the Department of Health Region X to complement the caravan. Main LGU services included seedlings distribution, free anti-rabies vaccination for cats and dogs, and livestock consultations.
The next serbisyo caravan will happen in 2026, identifying the geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDA) within Barangay Canayan.
“We hope that in the next year, we will bring the services closer to the communities distant from the town center,” VP Barroso remarked. (BukSU – Information Unit)
