To safeguard research participants and uphold the highest standards of academic integrity, Bukidnon State University (BukSU) launched its Cluster Research Ethics Committee (REC) Panels on October 15, 2025. The Research & Development Unit (RDU) spearheaded the formal launch at the BukSU Library, establishing a platform to cultivate responsible research practices among faculty and students.
“The establishment of the Cluster REC Panels is deemed imperative to ensure the protection of human participants, uphold ethical standards, and cultivate responsible research practices among faculty and students,” said Brenda G. Caballero, BukSU REC Chairperson.
Aside from the formal launching, a capacity-building platform for the REC panel members was conducted.
Jake L. Peras, BukSU REC Secretary, facilitated the Discussion of Roles, while Jennifer P. Barroso presented on REC Fees and Policies.
The launch followed plenary discussions, interactive dialogue, election of REC officers and panels, and a workshop to operationalize the cluster-based ethics review.
Participants included Designated REC Members, Faculty Researchers, RDU Staff, and Ethics Officers, and invited administrative officials and REC Cluster representatives. (BukSU-Information Unit)
