For the second consecutive year, the Government Financial Management Innovators Circle (GFMIC), Inc. has recognized Bukidnon State University (BukSU) for implementing the enhanced Electronic New Government Accounting System (eNGAS).
The award was presented on September 25, 2025, during the 16th Annual National Convention and Membership Conference in Tagbilaran City, Bohol. BukSU representatives included Mr. Donald Donasco, head of the Information and Communications Technology Unit, and Finance Management Division personnel Ms. Jairah Paguray and Mr. Roberto Galera Jr.
According to GFMIC, the award recognized the university for its “firm resolve in implementing the enhanced Electronic New Government Accounting System (eNGAS) in the campus with or without the assistance of the Commission on Audit.”
“The impact of eNGAS on BukSU would primarily revolve around enhanced financial governance and efficiency,” said Ms. Katherine Lou P. Bandas, BukSU’s Chief Administrative Officer for Finance. “It enhanced Transparency and Accountability, it leads to Operational Efficiency and Reporting, and it serves as the tool to meet compliance and standardization.”
The eNGAS is a computerized accounting platform developed by the Commission on Audit (COA) to replace traditional manual financial management systems in the Philippines. The software is designed to ensure accuracy, reliability, completeness, and timeliness in recording government financial transactions.
It also generates reports consistent with the Philippine Public Sector Accounting Standards and the Revised Chart of Accounts for local government units, as well as the policies and procedures under the New Government Accounting System for national government agencies.
BukSU was also recognized in 2024 during the GFMIC Membership Conference, when it received the same award. Both recognitions acknowledged the university’s adoption of the enhanced eNGAS to improve its accounting processes and align with modernized government financial reporting standards.
