Bukidnon State University (BukSU) brought home the Magnus Award – Best in Delegation Cultural Attire during the Second Philippines Youth Impact Leaders Conference, held from September 5 to 9, 2025 at Bohol Tropics Resort, Tagbilaran City, Bohol.
The event, initiated by YOUTHLead Philippines, gathered youth leaders from various local, regional, and national youth organizations across the country. It served as a platform for young leaders to engage in discussions on leadership, innovation, and youth empowerment under the theme “Driving Innovations, Creating Youth Impacts.”
Ms Julliana Nash Allysson L. Pacursa represented BukSU’s Supreme Student Council (SSC) officers, and Mr. Van Fergus Y. Dumalahay, with the delegation’s Person-in-Charge, Dr. Norwin Duay, showcased the rich Bukidnon culture through the traditional Kaamulan ethnic attire. The council’s ensemble stood out among the participating schools and organizations, earning them the prestigious special award for cultural attire.
SSC Senators shared their meaningful takeaways from the national event:
“It was a nice experience to be part of a national event that brought together youth leaders across the country. Despite the language barriers, we shared the same vision of empowering one another. The speakers inspired us to initiate leadership and engage in relevant discussions. Our cultural attire proudly represented Bukidnon and stood out during the program,” shared by Ms. Pacursa (AB-Philosophy, 3rd Year).
“It was empowering to collaborate with youth leaders from different places who shared the same goal. We learned so much from each other, and we are excited to implement these learnings back in our community. Wearing our Bukidnon cultural attire made us even prouder to represent our university,” added Mr. Dumalahay (AB-English, 4th Year).
BukSU fully supported the participation of its SSC, which further reflects the university’s commitment to honing globally competent and culturally grounded leaders. The recognition serves as a testament to BukSU’s continuous efforts to uphold cultural heritage while empowering its student leaders to take an active role in nation-building. (Astred Jill A.
