Bukidnon State University (BukSU) recently held a two-day workshop to enhance the university’s presence in global academic rankings and increase faculty publications in Scopus-indexed journals held at the Research and Extension Building on November 8 and at the BukSU Mini Theater on November 11, 2024, participated by the BukSU top management and faculty for a focused exploration of strategies to elevate BukSU’s research impact, align with global standards, and foster a research-oriented academic culture.
The workshop, titled “Understanding the Landscape of World University Rankings and Strengthening Institutional Strategies for Scopus Research Publications”.
“It is a call to action—a commitment to integrating innovation and knowledge into BukSU’s research practices,” SMART BukSU President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol emphasized in her opening address, highlighting the workshop’s alignment with BukSU’s values and cultural heritage.
“Kinaadman, the indigenous wisdom of the Bukidnon people, inspires us to seek knowledge, innovate, and serve our community,” she added.
“As we embark on this journey to elevate BukSU’s global standing, we must integrate this rich cultural heritage into our academic pursuits,” Mirasol noted.
Led by Dr. Don Eliseo Lucero-Prisno IV and Mr. Jerico Ogaya, the workshop covered vital topics such as identifying reputable Scopus-indexed journals, developing high-impact research, and leveraging technology—including generative AI—to streamline research and publication efforts. Through these sessions, participants gained practical strategies to raise their research visibility and broaden the impact of their work.
The workshop encouraged open discussions and sharing of best practices, to connect, learn, and support each other’s goals.
