Bukidnon State University’s Gender and Development Resource Center (UGRC), in collaboration with the Planning and Development Unit and the Extension Unit, conducted a Writeshop on Program and Project Proposal Enhancement for the FY 2025 GAD Plan and Budget on September 18, 2024, at the Conference Hall of the Research and Extension Building.
The activity aimed to improve the development of comprehensive and impactful program and project proposals for the 2025 GAD Plan and Budget (GPB). This initiative is crucial for Bukidnon State University to ensure compliance with national mandates and strengthen the institution’s commitment to gender equality.
Ms. Shaunell Mary J. Sayson, a member of the Regional Pool of GAD Resource Persons (Batch 1), facilitated the event. She introduced the Harmonized Gender and Development Guideline (HGDG) and its corresponding checklists, which participants used to enhance their project proposals. She emphasized the importance of the HGDG framework in systematically assessing and improving the gender responsiveness of programs and projects. These checklists help ensure that proposals effectively integrate gender perspectives, promoting inclusivity and equality in their design, implementation, and outcomes.
“By using the HGDG Checklist, project proponents can evaluate the extent to which their initiatives address gender issues, meet GAD objectives, and contribute to reducing gender disparities, ultimately leading to more impactful and equitable development outcomes,” said Sayson.
Another highlight of the event was the discussion led by Dr. Marichu B. Montecillo, Director of the University GAD Resource Center, on how to score project proposals using the HGDG. Montecillo provided guidance on criteria such as gender responsiveness, inclusivity, impact assessment, and the identification of gender issues.
“This guidance equipped participants with the knowledge and tools necessary to craft proposals that not only meet but exceed GAD standards,” Montecillo added.
