BukSU Holds GAD Focal Point System Assembly and Budget Forum

Bukidnon State University (BukSU) convened its GAD Focal Point System (GFPS) Assembly and GAD Budget Forum on August 27, 2024, at the Conference Hall of the Research and Extension Building.

The event gathered the university’s members of the GAD Focal point system and Unit Heads to discuss the results of the BukSU GFPS Functionality Assessment Tool and plan for the 2025 GAD budget allocation.

“As we gather to discuss the results of the GFPS Functionality Assessment, deliberate on the 2025 GAD Plan and Budget, and align our financial resources with our GAD goals, we are taking concrete steps toward a more equitable and just community here at BukSU,” Vice President for Research, Extension and Innovation Dr. Carina Joane V. Barroso read the opening message on behalf of SMART BukSU President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol.

During the assembly, the GAD Resource Center through GAD Director Dr. Marichu B. Montecillo presented the findings of the assessment tool, which evaluated the effectiveness of the GFPS in promoting gender equality and addressing gender-related issues within the university. The key areas evaluated were the Structure and Composition of the GFPS, Fulfillment of GFPS Roles and Functions based on Structure, and GAD-related competencies of GFPS members.  

Following the presentation of results and crafting the ways forward, a forum for planning the university’s GAD budget for the upcoming year was conducted. Participants explored potential areas of investment to support gender-responsive initiatives and advance BukSU’s commitment to gender equality.

“Through this activity, we reaffirm our institutional commitment to GAD and ensure that our strategies are effectively translated into actions that make a tangible difference. By working together, we are complying with mandates and fostering an environment where everyone, regardless of gender, can thrive and contribute meaningfully to our institution… let us remember that our work here will have far-reaching impacts—not just within the university but in the broader community we serve,” President Mirasol added.
