The Secondary Education Department (SED) of Bukidnon State University’s College of Education conducted extension projects for the instructors at the 4th Division Training School (4DTS) of the 4th Infantry Division, Philippine Army.
This extension project, titled “Retooling the 4th Infantry Division Philippine Army Instructors in Functional Literacy, Teaching Pedagogies, and Research,” includes various seminars and workshops on topics such as teaching strategies, effective communication, and research.
The extension project aligns with BukSU’s Extension Unit program on “Continuing Professional Development through Extension Services.”
According to the project’s rationale, by equipping 4DTS instructors with the tools they need to effectively teach their subjects, the workshop helps ensure that soldiers receive the highest quality training possible, leading to improved performance in army training and teaching.
SED project leader Dr. Manuel E. Caingcoy explained that the series of workshops aims to foster a culture of continuous professional learning and development within the Philippine Army.
“Once these instructors complete the seminar workshops, they can serve as mentors and role models to other members of the organization. This can help promote a culture of excellence within the Philippine Army, ultimately leading to better performance and greater mission success,” he said.
The series of training and workshops involved several SED faculty members as training resource persons and facilitators, namely: Ms. Katrina Faith M. Melig, Ms. Dianara Lyka D. Aranas, Ms. Mary Joy T. Peligrino, Mr. Jurich M. Faunillan, Mr. Rhondell M. Paraiso, Ms. Elvie O. Lacdag, Ms. Brenda P. Bragat, Dr. Cecille Marie T. Improgo, Dr. Iris April L.
