MALAYBALAY CITY – Bukidnon State University College of Nursing joins Arbor Day at Maagnao River, Brgy. Songco, Lantapan on June 23, 2023.
The Department of Environment and Natural Resourced CENRO Valencia, Bukidnon in coordination with various government and non-government agencies hosted Arbor Day with the theme: “Bike, Hike and Reforest.”
It aimed to encourage stakeholders in nourishing forests, and to expand the network of forestry champions by inviting not just bikers and hikers but also volunteers from different sectors to be one with the vision.
BukSU CON emphasizes the value of protecting nature in addition to enhancing the health and welfare of the people and the community, particularly in light of the numerous disasters that not only destroying properties but also taking lives. That is why BukSU CON faculty and graduates volunteered with the Philippine Nurses Association Regional Council 10 headed by the regional governor, Dr. Fatima C. Tanzo.
A “Pamuhat” led by the Indigenous People of the Municipality of Lantapan served as the event’s official opening. Before the volunteers left for the planting location, a formal handover of the seedlings and instructions on how and where to plant were also conducted. Among the volunteers were the LGU Lantapan, Manupali Agri Development Corporation, Unifrutti, Mt. Kitanglad Agro-Ventures Inc., TFOA Philippine Eagles, Cowboy Securty Agency, Team Dasig and PNA- Regional Council 10. (Aubrey S. Sudaria-Edio/CON)
