MALAYBALAY CITY – The House Panel approved HB No. 7643 – An Act Converting the Satellite Campus of the Bukidnon State University Located in the Municipality of Alubijid in the Province of Misamis Oriental into a Regular Campus during the initial deliberation of the bill on the CHTE 19th Regular Committee Meeting at the House of Representatives (HRep) Complex, Quezon City on May 29, 2023.
Cong. Yevgeny Vincente “Bambi” Beja Emano fought for the approval of his sponsored Bill before the Committee on Higher Education chaired by Rep. Mark Go of Baguio City.
Dr. Joy M. Mirasol, University President, represented BukSU. Campus Head Dr. Cheryl Sabaldana of BukSU Alubijid Satellite Campus joined the meeting via Zoom.
Mr. Dante S. Victoria Jr., Vice President for Finance and Administration and Dr. Albert A. Villanca, Director for Satellite Campuses, were the onsite attendees.
Alubijid Mayor Emmanuel Jamis was also physically present to manifest full support of the said bill.
In her message, Dr. Mirasol expressed her appreciation of the bill as it will help address the growing demand for higher education in the region and provide increased access to quality education for aspiring students. She noted the need for multistakeholder consultation prior to the final approval of the bill to ensure data-driven and participatory decision making on the matter. Comm. Jo Mark M. Libre, chairperson of the BukSU Board of Regents, manifested appreciation and commendation of the house bill, citing BukSU BOR Resolution 2326 s. 2022, approving the formal establishment of the 15 BukSU Satellite Campuses including that of BukSU Alubijid.
